The Cyclades archipelago — 220 islands arranged in a rough circle in the central Aegean — presents the private traveller with an organisational challenge: each island is a distinct destination with its own ground logistics, accommodation, and access points. A programme that combines Mykonos (cosmopolitan beach clubs), Paros (traditional Cycladic villages and the marble quarries of Lefkes), Naxos (the largest island, with Byzantine towers and the Temple of Apollo), and Delos (the mythological centre of the Cyclades) requires coordinated ground transport on four separate islands. FFGR Greece manages all four simultaneously.
The Cyclades Ground Network
FFGR Greece maintains year-round drivers on Mykonos, Santorini, and Paros. On Naxos and the smaller Cyclades, we operate with a partner network of licensed operators who meet our briefing and presentation standards. Every vehicle in the network is inspected quarterly. Every driver in the network is background-checked annually.
For island-hopping programmes, we assign a single FFGR Greece coordinator who manages the entire itinerary from Athens. This coordinator holds the manifest for every vehicle movement, every ferry booking, and every hotel concierge contact across all islands. When the yacht departs Paros 90 minutes later than planned, the Naxos vehicle is already waiting at the adjusted arrival time.
Ferry Coordination — The Overlooked Logistics
Inter-island transport in the Cyclades for vehicles is managed by ferry — Blue Star Ferries, SeaJets, and ANES Lines. Vehicle booking on summer sailings requires advance reservation, sometimes 72 hours ahead for peak July crossings. FFGR Greece manages all vehicle ferry bookings as part of the island-hopping programme at no additional administrative charge.
For clients travelling without their own vehicle — arriving by helicopter or private yacht at each island — our network provides a vehicle waiting at every point of arrival. The car that met them in Mykonos was our vehicle. The car in Naxos is our partner. The standard is identical.
