The Peloponnese is where Greek civilisation began: Mycenae, Tiryns, Corinth, Epidaurus, Olympia. The Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae predates classical Athens by a thousand years. The theatre at Epidaurus is so perfectly engineered that a match struck at its centre is audible from the last row 55 metres away. FFGR Greece connects all of these in a single programme.
Athens to Nafplio
The standard Peloponnese itinerary from Athens follows the motorway south through Corinth, then the coastal road to Nafplio — the first capital of modern Greece and one of the most beautiful small cities in the Mediterranean. Total: 148 kilometres, two hours by vehicle.
Nafplio provides an overnight base for the Mycenae and Epidaurus visits. The Nafplia Palace hotel sits on the Akronafplia fortress above the town with views across the Argolic Gulf.
Mycenae, Epidaurus & Olympia
Three mandatory stops: Mycenae (25 kilometres from Nafplio, 45 minutes with the Lion Gate and Treasury of Atreus), Epidaurus (30 kilometres, the ancient theatre in perfect condition), and Olympia (230 kilometres through the central Peloponnese, three hours).
For clients attending the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, we coordinate arrival and departure around the programme. The ancient theatre at night, lit by stage lighting and moon, is an experience no other venue replicates.
Costa Navarino
Costa Navarino in the Bay of Navarino is 290 kilometres from Athens — three hours on the motorway through Kalamata. The resort covers 3,500 acres with five hotels, four golf courses, and beaches the Venetians used as a harbour for 300 years.
FFGR Greece manages the full Athens-to-Costa Navarino transfer and coordinates inter-resort transfers within the estate — between The Romanos, The Westin, Mandola Rosa, and the golf facilities.
